Lifeguard

We went to the beach today and just sat to take it all in. The two younger boys dug in the sand and Tyler just walked around enjoying the ocean. The water was too cold to swim but the temperature was perfect to just sit and enjoy the day.

The lifeguard was on duty but there was only one man swimming in the ocean. I thought about lifeguards and how the Holy Spirit is our lifeguard in our daily life. Just like the lifeguard blows his whistle when he knows you are in danger or could get into trouble, the Holy Spirit does the same for us when we are in tune to him.

When we are not in tune or get in over our head with no return, he jumps in and rescues us. Sometimes we welcome His help and sometimes we behave just like some drowning victims and fight the one who is there to bring us to safety.

" I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit[b] teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. Living as Children of God. And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame." I John 2:26-28 (NLT)
