Boys

Everyone always talks about little girls and how quickly they grow, etc., but I got to thinking how precious boys are as well. So quickly they grow up as well, and the adventure of strapping on a canteen and heading out in the woods fades as they get older. The boys were all set today to go on their way and I just had to take a picture. I know one day I will miss the dirty faces and the smelly shoes. As they get older I realize how precious each day is and the wonder of adventure that they have brought to my life.

Wire Hanger

Brent and I recently had to evict our tenant from our rental house. (the one I prayed we could sell last year) It was not a fun situation and we have spent the last couple of weeks trying to figure out how we are going to fix everything that has been broken in the house. These pictures are of our tenants attempt to fix a broken light fixture. I have seen many uses for a wire hanger and nails in the past, but this was a first for me as a home repair device.
I had to laugh a little over the situation and realize that I do this same thing in my own life. I usually don't wait for God to help me fix something, I try to come up with my own way of fixing things. These attempts do not last forever, most times it is a temporary fix for a permanent problem. Only God can come along and repair what is broken. I know if I try to repair it myself, my efforts will just be a little wire hanger trying to hold up a light fixture.
Ezekiel 9:10b-11
"They are like workers who think they can fix a shaky wall by covering it with paint.
But when I send rainstorms, hailstones, and strong winds, the wall will surely collapse."

Stop Sign

Brent and I were out today and had to stop for gas. This man was having a very serious conversation with this stop sign. I asked Brent if he thought he might have an earpiece on? When we left, we drove past him and it was very evident he did not have a cell phone or earpiece, he was actually having a complete conversation with this stop sign. It was quite sad because he had such a lost look in his eyes. He did not even notice us when we drove past.
It reminded me of me! How many times do I do apparently useless things that will bring about nothing of value? I know God must just scratch his head at times watching me as I go about my day with my useless habits. It his hard to have a meaningful relationship with a stop sign!
From Job 15
"Would a wise man answer with empty notions
or fill his belly with the hot east wind?
Would he argue with useless words,
with speeches that have no value?
Do you listen in on God's council?
Do you limit wisdom to yourself?
What do you know that we do not know?
What insights do you have that we do not have?"
